Melody & Wine

Melody Ren was a senior wine educator and consultant in Shanghai, China before she came to the U.S. in 2019. She holds a WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) Diploma from the U.K., a master’s degree in International Business from Grenoble Ecole de Management in France, and she is now working on her MA in Applied Linguistics at Portland State University. Her experience in France combined her interest in fine arts since she majored in art design as an undergraduate and led her to the wine world. Before pursuing a career as a wine educator, she had been working for trade organizations such as American Forest & Paper Association, Idaho State Trade Office, U.S. Commercial Service of Consulate General in Shanghai and South Australia State Government China Office. During her career in wine, she has a long working experience with Oregon Wine Board, Washington State Wine, California Family Winemakers, California Wine Institute and Napa Vintner in China market, responsible for organizing tasting events, master classes and seminars, and conducting educational classes. Melody has wide connections with the wine industry players in the China market, and have helped couples of Oregon wines export to China. Since she moved to LO, she has been volunteering in teaching wine tasting through both online Zoom and in person classes on a regular basis. She is now working on a project combining wine education with language learning and socialization.
